Seven MT DNRC GNA sales spanning July 29 through September 30 have now posted results. The hardest-bid of the batch was GNA Reese's Pieces, a Northwestern Land Office sale where three bidders pushed the price to $29.82/ton against a $9.53/ton per-unit minimum, 213 percent over that per-unit rate. The total high bid came to $226,871 against a $72,504 total minimum.
- Board read: The 40-sale board since August 13 sits at a green sawtimber median of 31 percent over minimum, with 88,071 MBF (state) of timber sold across all state sales in the count.
- Biggest period premium: Coal Train (WA DNR, Northwest Region) cleared $18.86/ton against a $3.71/ton per-unit minimum, 408 percent over the per-unit rate, one bidder. Total high bid $578,153 against a $113,730 total minimum.
- Biggest volume: East Bead (WA DNR) at 50,644 tons, total high bid $1,864,206.
- No bids: Five sales on the board drew no qualifying bid, including Country Boy, Q Parody Peak and Q Dead End (all WA DNR).
- Market note: F&W Forestry's Garrett Kleiner, in an October 13 report, described Inland Northwest timber markets as softened in Q3 with high available supply and limited demand keeping conditions under pressure. Sawtimber was the strongest product category in that read.
